Sao Filipe, May 30 (Inforpress) – The equipment to carry out of at least one groundwater prospecting borehole for the Cha das Caldeiras population is placed at the defined location but the works have not started yet.
The probe was moved last week to Cha das Caldeiras, to one of the nearby streams of the “Cabo Nho Ernesto”, very close to the site where there was a water prospecting borehole that supplied the population but was “swallowed” by the volcanic eruption of 23 November 2014.
The groundwater prospecting borehole in Cha das Caldeiras is one of the activities to be carry out under the “emergency humanitarian aid to restore the means of existence and increase the resilience of families affected by the volcanic eruption” project and aims to mobilize more than 500 cubic meters of water for agriculture, in addition to supplying the population that returned to Caldeira.
This project, launched on January 30 this year, is budgeted at one million US dollars, about 100.000 Cabo Verdean escudos, and in addition to executing a water prospecting borehole in Cha das Caldeiras, provides the equipment of two boreholes at Mosteiros and three in Sao Filipe to support displaced families from Cha das Caldeiras residing in these municipalities.
