Fogo: Government delivers musical instruments to music schools on the island

São Filipe, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, chaired, on Tuesday in São Filipe, the ceremony to deliver musical instruments to six music schools and associations in the Fogo Island, two for each of the three municipalities.

These instruments were made available by the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries (MCIC), through the Bolsa de Acess to Cultura (BA-Cultura) programme, and is worthwhile investment, in the opinion of Ulisses Correia e Silva, so that “the Government will continue to bet and multiply the amount because the return has been great”.

For the prime minister it is an inclusive investment since many poor children and families are excluded from non-essential and important goods, noting that culture is essential and important like other activities are carried out and, therefore, the Government has to make it accessible and available so that the income of families in situations of poverty is not an obstacle to access to culture.

“Children and young people, when filled with access to art and culture, deviate from various other temptations that society has on the street”, said the head of the Government, who promises to increase the budget for the Bolsa de Acesso à Cultura programme in order to have more impact on inclusion and happiness of young people and children.
