São Filipe, Nov 9 (Inforpress) – The Central School, located at the historic area of the City of São Filipe and declared in 2012 city hall heritage, duly restored, will be handed over to the Ministry of Education on November 14.
The rehabilitation of this school, built in the 30s of last century and inaugurated on June 10, 1937, began in the school year 2012/13 (first phase) with the replacement of the roof, improvement of doors and windows and in other small interventions, and the second phase, which began just over a year ago, consisted of a deeper intervention.
The second phase of the works involved the rehabilitation of the internal ceiling and its improvement, the construction of new doors and windows respecting the original model, the rehabilitation of the flooring, the protection wall, the electric network and the rehabilitation of the physical structure of the building and annexes built later, improvement of the floor with placement of sticks, painting, among other interventions.
Engineer Tito Rodrigues, one of the person in charge from the local company contracted for rehabilitation of the building, told Inforpress that “the work is practically at the end”, noting that the company was delayed in the works due to lack of quality material in the market, among the materials was wood. The situation, however, is normalized, according to the same source, and began laying the floor on Thursday, and predicts that everything should be ready early next week.
