Fogo: Bilateral agreement aims to create conditions for people who do not have opportunities to leave can achieve the dream – Nuías Silva

São Filipe, Oct 13 (Inforpress) – The bilateral agreement concluded Tuesday between the City Hall of São Filipe and the University of Cabo Verde aims to create conditions for people who cannot leave the island to have opportunities to achieve the dream of higher education.

This is how the mayor of São Filipe, Nuías Silva, defined the agreement, noting that the main objective is not to prevent the mass departure of young people, but “to give opportunity to people who are not in a position to leave”.

At the moment there are at least 370 students from Fogo studying at the University of Cabo Verde and of these, about 270 are from the municipality of São Filipe, Said Nuías Silva, stressing that this number is reduced, taking into account the number of students who finish secondary school.

The mayor admitted that the agreement, in addition to carrying out the “great commitments” regarding access to higher education, aims to create the conditions to improve the offers for students of the island, who are displaced in the camps of Uni.CV in the islands of Santiago and S.Vicente, thus opening prospects for cooperation in terms of research and extension.
