Praia, Jul 20 (Inforpress) – Five Cabo Verdean movies, including Chissana Magalhães, Mário Vaz Almeida, Abel Monteiro, Guenny Pires and Grace Ribeiro were selected to compete in the 11th edition of the “Kugoma” international film festival in Mozambique.
The short documentary films “O Amigo da Tartaruga”, “Djassi” and “Na Rota do Cinema Africano” “The Vulcano’s Last Wish” will also be shown in the 11th edition of the festival, which this year takes place from August 24 to 30, in Maputo.
Speaking to Inforpress, the director of the film “Djassi”, Chissana Magalhães, was “satisfied” with the selection of the short documentary for the Mozambican film festival.
“I am particularly happy to be at the Kugoma festival, which is the largest in Mozambique, which among the PALOP countries is the country that has emphatically dedicated itself to cinema and with great prestige at the level of Africa,” she said, recalling that Djassi it is her first audiovisual work that was born in the scope of a contest, “Prémio 100 anos Amílcar Cabral” and won the second position.
