First lady calls for Cabo Verdean society to take part in the parental responsibility campaign

Praia, Aug 12 (Inforpress) – The first lady, Deborah Katiza Carvalho, this Thursday, in the City of Praia, called for Cabo Verdean society to take part in the parental responsibility campaign to be launched this Friday, with the aim of drawing attention to this problem.

The campaign aims to draw the attention of the Cabo Verdean nation to a strong “djunta mon” (mutual help) on the issue of parental responsibility, aiming at greater and better awareness among families, public and private authorities about the causes and consequences to neglect their responsibilities, especially for children.

Débora Katiza Carvalho, godmother of the Parental Responsibility Campaign in Cabo Verde, who was speaking to the press today on the sidelines of the visit to the Antonina Mascarenhas Monteiro daycare center, lamented the fact that about 9.000 children in Cabo Verde did not have their father’s name.

“I believe that if we solve this problem, several other social challenges can be solved. And I think it’s serious a country like Cabo Verde to have about nine thousand children without the father’s name, this all has implications for the formation of the child, so tomorrow we will start with the campaign”, she said.
