São Filipe, Apr 20 (Inforpress) – Casa da Memória, a cultural institution eminently private nature, whose creation aims to keep the memory of the past and build the history of the future, marks this Sunday, April 20, the 20th anniversary of its opening to the public.
It was on April 20, 2001, it was born in the historic center of the City of São Filipe, in a former warehouse, the cultural institution is now a reference in the city, in the island and in Cabo Verde.
The Casa da Memoria’s promoter, Monique Widmer, told Inforpress that it was 20 years of learning, stressing that “the Casa da Memoria has evolved a lot, but it has been kept the objective and the initial name, since it is a house and not a museum, but it was also with the initial style”, because it does not exhaust the ethnographic and not the historical.
According to her, “there has been an evolution in the number of collections, in the number of visitors, in the equipping of the library, in the possibility of meeting what people are looking for and having shared visits, so that people can feel and be part of the project and the initiative itself”, noting that since its opening, the goal was to make people relive with their culture and their history.
