Praia, 11 Sep. (Inforpress) – The giant Cape Verdean international basketball player, Edy Walter Tavares, 2’21 meters, was the best “rebounder” of the World Championship, with an average of 12.4 boards per game of the completed competition Sunday with Germany’s victory over Serbia.
In basketball, a rebound, sometimes colloquially called a plate, is a statistic awarded to a player who recovers the ball after a missed field goal or free throw.
According to statistics from FIBA, organizer of the World Championship of the modality, the Creole center, who plays for the Spanish team of Real Madrid (Spain), relegated the Japanese Joshua Hawkinson, athlete of the Shinshu Brave Warriors), to the background with an average of 10.8 cards per game, followed by the Brazilian Bruno Caboclo, an athlete from Umana Reyer Venezia (Italy), with an average of 9.2.
As for the other positions, Canadian Shai Gilgeou-Alexander, a player for the Oklahoma City Thunder (USA) topped the list of top scorers with a per-game efficiency of 30.04 points, while Slovenian Luka Doncic, a professional player for the Dallas Mavericks (USA) was the top per-game scorer with an average of 27.0 points.
