FAO promotes conference with global partnership to analyze, share and evaluate work carried out under the IPC project

Praia, Feb 22 (Inforpress) – The Global Partnership of the “Coastal Fisheries Initiative-(IPC)” Project holds, from February 22 to 26, a conference to analyze, share and evaluate the work carried out by the components in West Africa, Latin America and Indonesia.

“These are different areas, with totally different fishing contexts, despite similarities in West Africa, the pioneer countries Cabo Verde, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire have some differences in coastal fishing, as well as in Latin America and Indonesia,” Edelmira Carvalho, the national head of the project, said in a statement to Inforpress.

According to Edelmira Carvalho, in the country the “Coastal Fishing Initiative” project beneficiaries are the islands of Maio and São Vicente, where the target public was supported with tools of governance in the fisheries sector, improvement in the value chain, communication and knowledge sharing.

The idea, highlighted by that responsible, is to implement initiatives on the two pilot islands of the project and then take to other islands or community and extend the partnership with the private sector in order to improve the value chain and fish supply in the communities.
