FAO highlights importance of the Reeflor-CV project in the recovery and treatment of national forests

Praia,  Nov 18 (Inforpress) – FAO representative in Cabo Verde, Ana Laura Touza, highlighted the importance of implementing the project to strengthen the capacity for adaptation and resilience in the forest sector in Cabo Verde (Reeflor-CV), in the recovery and national forest treatment.

Ana Laura Touza made these statements to the press, on Tuesday, as a balance of the 4th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Reeflor-CV Project, for the presentation of the activities developed and the results related to the 2019/2020 work plan and budget, held today in Praia.

As he stated, the meeting established the need to accelerate its implementation, despite the limitations the country has, to maximize implementation, and, attested to the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to achieve good results, as well as the engagement of the European Union, the main funder of the project.

The official pointed out that the project aims to reinforce the treatment and recovery of forest areas on the islands, as well as to outline how and where the communities, together with the Government, will carry out their implementation.
