European Union invests almost five million euros in projects linked to sustainable tourism

Porto Novo, Dec 1 (Inforpress) – The European Union (EU) has invested, in the last four years, close to five million euros in projects related to sustainable tourism in almost all the islands of the archipelago, informed the ambassador in Santo Antão, Sofia de Sousa.

Sofia de Sousa, who was speaking on Monday at the closing of the local networks project for sustainable and inclusive tourism in Santo Antão (Raízes), co-financed, by 75 percent (%), by the EU, explained that a total of 12 projects have been carried out in the country since 2016, promoting sustainable tourism.

These are projects that, according to the EU ambassador in Cabo Verde, promote inclusive tourism, ecotourism, solidarity and community tourism, accessibility to culture for people with disabilities, the creation of local sustainable tourism networks and the urban requalification.

Sofia de Sousa guaranteed that the body she represents will continue to work with national authorities to implement projects in the sustainable tourism sector.
