EU determined to continue partnerships with Cabo Verde to face the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic

Praia, Oct 21 (Inforpress) – The European Union (EU) ambassador in Cabo Verde, Sofia Sousa, said Tuesday in Praia that the EU is determined to continue partnerships with Cabo Verde, in order to face the effects of COVID-19 together.

Sofia Sousa spoke at the opening of a debate on the meaning of reliable data to connect the world, promoted by the National Statistics Institute (INE), within the scope of the World Statistics Day, which is celebrated in October 20.

“The EU has been a partner of Cabo Verde in many areas, even in these much more difficult and complex times, but we are determined to continue with our partnerships and together try to tackle, not only the pandemic and its harmful consequences for our society, but also to work together to achieve the sustainable development goals we all agree on and intend to see accomplished”, she stressed.

Focusing on World Statistics Day, Sofia Sousa said that the EU wants to continue to work and to strengthen the partnership with INE, in order to work in the context allows achieving “reliable results”. According to her, the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, which the whole world is facing, highlights the importance of the need to know more deeply the reality around people.
