São Miguel, Feb 12 (Inforpress) – Eighty-four families from Espinho Branco, known as “rebels”, in the municipality of São Miguel, now have access to the water network in their homes and sixty-four to electricity, from this Thursday.
The official delivery of the energy and water network, an investment of more than 10 million escudos, carried out through the partnership between the City Hall of São Miguel and the Government, was made by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro, who was today visiting that municipality.
Speaking to Rádio de Cabo Verde (RCV), the minister stated that the focus is on promoting public policies for social inclusion and support for the most vulnerable families and through the implementation of a social tariff on water and energy for all.
“The decent access to water and electricity program has a dimension, first of all contributing to reducing the cost of energy and water consumption bills. That is why there was already the social tariff we approved and introduced two years ago. Now, we complemented it and it was reinforced with another component, with support to the water connection”, he explained.
