Women's Basketball: ABC Defeats La Família and Is Crowned Cape Verdean Champion

Praia, Aug. 9 (Inforpress) - The ABC women's team from Santiago Sul won the 2025/2026 national basketball championship tonight, defeating La Família from São Vicente 56-44 in the final played at the Vavá Duarte Arena.

The decisive match was marked by a turnaround in the score, with the Sanvicentino team led by Zé Baía dominating the first half of the game, winning the first two periods 14–11 and 16–14, and securing a five-point lead (30–25) at halftime.

In the second half, César Pinto’s side returned with determination, putting in a convincing performance to win the third and fourth quarters by scores of 19–7 and 12–7, respectively.

The team from Porto Grande lost control of the game in the second half, when the red-clad side turned the score around, scoring 31 points to the defeated finalists’ 14.
