Uni-CV professor publishes article on the crisis of Cape Verdean masculinity in an international scientific journal

Praia, Aug 5 (Inforpress) - Uni-CV professor and researcher Adilson Semedo published a scientific article in Sociologia - Journal of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, analyzing the crisis of masculinity in the classic novel “Chiquinho”, by Baltasar Lopes.

The article, entitled "The sociostructural nuances of the crisis of Cape Verdean masculinity in Chiquinho de Baltasar Lopes", was released on July 28 and is available in full in issue number 51 of the magazine, available online.

According to a statement from the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV), the study uses a literary ethnography approach to reflect on the transformations and tensions surrounding the male role in the archipelago, with a critical analysis of the work.

In the article, Professor Adilson Semedo interprets the protagonist, Chiquinho, as a symbolic figure of the “disconnect between traditional masculine ideals and the social reality experienced in Cabo Verde.”
