Praia, Apr 20 (Inforpress) – Trade unionist Gilberto Lima said today he is “deeply displeased” with the labour situation in several municipal councils across the country, denouncing alleged violations of workers’ rights and criticising the conduct of some mayors.
At a press conference, the president of the General Industry, Food, Construction and Related Workers’ Union (Siacsa) stated that municipal employees continue to complain about salary delays, absence of allowances, failure to implement the Job, Functions and Remuneration Plan (PCFR), and non-compliance with the national minimum wage.
According to him, there are also cases of workers not registered with Social Security and situations of reprisals linked to union and political affiliation.
Gilberto Lima made these remarks during the press conference, accusing some mayors of prioritising travel expenses over the regularisation of labour conditions, rejecting the argument of lack of resources.
