Praia, July 6 (Inforpress) - The National Assembly opened its doors today, in a session filled with emotion, to pay a historic tribute to the national football team, recently returned from the 2026 World Cup.

The event celebrated the recent performance in the World Cup, marked by national unity and the fact that the team became the "greatest symbol of African pride" for managing, according to the President of the National Assembly, Jandira Hopffer Almada, to make Cabo Verde "conquer the world with our dignity".

In her welcoming speech, the President of the National Assembly, who expressed the nation's gratitude, highlighted "the profound impact" of the team's performance beyond the pitch.

“At 47 years of age, I had never witnessed a moment of such unity and joy in the country. They are the most vivid proof that 99 percent faith is stronger than one percent chance,” he said, addressing special words to the national coach, Bubista, and praising his “humility, courage and determination” in leading “a group full of stars.”
