The government and the Chinese company CIMEC sign a memorandum to strengthen cooperation in strategic áreas

raia, 12 August (Inforpress) – The Government of Cabo Verde and the Chinese company Machinery Engineering Corporation (CIMEC) signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday in Praia to strengthen cooperation in the areas of energy, water, agriculture and integrated development.

The agreement was initialled by the Minister for Project Coordination and Access to Funds, José Carlos Varela, and by the CIMEC representative, Wang Bo, at a ceremony witnessed by the Prime Minister, Francisco Carvalho, and the Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Yang.

On that occasion, CIMEC’s representative, Wang Bo, stated that the memorandum sets out a general framework for practical cooperation in the medium and long term, adding that the company intends to put its capabilities in planning, engineering, investment, financing, management and maintenance at the service of Cabo Verde’s development.

In the energy sector, the Chinese company plans to cooperate on the modernisation and refurbishment of thermal power stations, the development of renewable energy, energy storage, electricity grids and infrastructure to support electric vehicles.
