Tarrafal, Jun 26 (Inforpress) - The City Council of Tarrafal on Wednesday handed over the urban and environmental requalification works in the Quintal and Petxeco areas of Chão Bom, as part of the festivities in honour of Queen Saint Isabel, the patron saint of this town.

At the inauguration, the mayor, José dos Reis, pointed out that the work, financed by the municipality, involved the use of local labour and raw materials, totalling an investment of more than 27,000 escudos.

According to the mayor, this project represents a return of dignity to the communities of Chão Bom, with the promotion of essential improvements in the quality of life of the residents.

The interventions, he emphasised, included the upgrading of public roads and pavements, the construction of a square with a solar lighting system, the creation of leisure spaces, the creation of a pedestrian street, as well as tree planting and traffic signage.
