State Budget 2026 Reinforces Confidence in the Future, Keeps People at the Center of Governance — PM

Praia City, Nov. 12 (Inforpress) — Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said today that the 2026 State Budget (OE2026) reinforces confidence in the future, consolidates economic stability, and keeps people at the center of public policy, with a focus on social inclusion and youth.

Speaking at the opening of the parliamentary debate on the OE2026, Correia e Silva recalled that Cabo Verde had faced severe crises in recent years — including prolonged droughts, the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and, most recently, Storm Erin in São Vicente.

According to the prime minister, the country demonstrated resilience and recovery capacity, putting the economy back on a path of robust growth, reducing unemployment and poverty, and maintaining its classification as an upper-middle-income nation.

For 2026, the government projects 6% economic growth, a public debt reduction to 97.4% of GDP, and inflation at 1.6%. Stability and good governance, he said, remain the foundation of international partners’ confidence and of increased external financing.
