São Vicente: Woman arrested with 17 kilos of cocaine remanded in preventive detention

Mindelo, August 17 (Inforpress) - A 32-year-old woman arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) with 17.134 kilograms of cocaine at Cesária Évora International Airport, in São Vicente, was remanded in custody by decision of the island's District Court.

The arrest took place on the afternoon of Friday the 14th, when the Cape Verdean citizen, originally from Santiago, was disembarking from a flight originating in São Paulo (Brazil) with a stopover in Lisbon (Portugal).

According to the PJ (Judicial Police), the drugs were concealed in the defendant's bag and inside several jackets.

In total, 170 packets of cocaine were seized.
