São Vicente: Urdi kicks off Wednesday celebrating “A decade promoting the handicraft sector”

Mindelo, 25 Nov (Inforpress) – The tenth edition of the Cabo Verde Handicraft and Design Fair (Urdi) begins Wednesday, 26 November, in Mindelo, celebrating a decade of promoting the handicraft and design sectors, which have “grown significantly” since then.

The assurance was given by the Director of the National Centre for Art, Handicraft and Design (CNAD), Artur Marçal, who told Inforpress that everything is ready for the opening of the event at 18:00 at Praça Amílcar Cabral, known as Praça Nova.

Under the theme “Urdi_10 years celebrating Cabo Verde’s handicraft and design”, this edition seeks to strengthen synergies between artisans, designers and other creatives, bringing the sector closer to the public, which has already “grown considerably” over the years.

Marçal also said that this year there will be no “featured municipalities”, as the commemorations of the country’s 50 years of independence call for a national-level focus.
