Mindelo, 05 Mar (Inforpress) – The Trade Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) today denounced the situation of an employee of the Ministry of Education in São Vicente who has reportedly not received a salary for two years, describing the case as an “abuse of power”.
In statements to the Inforpress news agency, the permanent secretary of Sintap, Luís Lima Fortes, revealed that the employee concerned has been performing administrative duties at the Youth and Adult Education Centre (CEJA) since 2021, with her employment link being successively renewed.
Initially, the employee received part of her salary every three months, but later stopped receiving any payment.
“At this moment, she has already gone more than two years without receiving her salary. She was regularised under the Programme for the Regularisation of Precarious Employment Links, but even so she continues without receiving payment. This is a serious situation. We consider this to be an abuse of power and also a form of slave labour,” stated the trade union leader.
