São Vicente: City council joins forces with the National Environment Directorate against plastic use

Mindelo, May 20 (Inforpress) - The city council of São Vicente on Monday joined the call by the National Directorate for the Environment (DNA) for compliance with the new law on single-use plastics and is asking for the collaboration of residents and shopkeepers.

In a statement, the city council pointed out that since Sunday 18th, the law banning the placing on the market of disposable plastic packaging and objects, including those that do not contain post-consumer recycled plastic, has been in force throughout the country.

'The City Council of São Vicente joins DNA's call and invites importers, traders and the entire population of São Vicente to actively collaborate in complying with this law.He emphasised.

In recent months, technicians from the National Environment Directorate have been on the ground, including in the city of Mindelo, to inform traders, collect data and emphasise the importance of this ecological transition.
