São Vicente: Baptista de Sousa Hospital honors donors of breast milk and bottles

Mindelo, May 28 (Inforpress) - Baptista de Sousa Hospital will pay tribute on Friday, the 30th, to donors of breast milk and bottles of milk from the year 2024, as part of the celebrations of World Breast Milk Donation Day, celebrated on May 12.

According to a statement from the hospital's management, this honour is part of the activities carried out by the hospital's Human Milk Bank to highlight the ‘importance of donating human milk and of everyone getting involved in the cause’.

The same source also said that the award is intended to mark the ‘invaluable contribution’ of donors in ensuring that babies who cannot be breastfed have access to this ‘vital food’.

According to the management of the Baptista de Sousa Hospital, the Milk Bank distributed around 70 litres of milk between 2022 and 2023, which was considered satisfactory for the health of the children admitted to the Neonatology Service.
