São Nicolau: Government seeks to diversify tourism offerings and reduce concentration of tourism in a few areas of the territory

Ribeira Brava, 28 Aug (Inforpress) – The Secretary of State for Tourism on Thursday stressed the need to diversify tourism in Cabo Verde by promoting all localities and islands as a way of preventing the concentration of tourism activity in a few areas of the national territory.

José Pimenta Lima made the remarks to Inforpress following a meeting with the Mayor of Ribeira Brava, as part of a visit to the island of São Nicolau aimed at gaining first-hand knowledge of the island’s tourism potential and consulting with the various stakeholders in the sector

According to the government official, the visit is part of the Government’s strategy to ensure greater territorial diversification of tourism, allowing visitors to enjoy the different attractions and potential offered by the islands.

“We intend to ensure, under the Government’s Programme, the diversification we seek across the national territory, avoiding the concentration of tourism in only a few areas of the country,” he explained
