Calheta, São Miguel, July 9 (Inforpress) – The mayor of São Miguel, Herménio Fernandes, today rejected the PAICV's criticism of the works at the Principal school and kindergarten and the sports infrastructure, assuring that the investments are proceeding normally.
Speaking to Inforpress, in reaction to statements made by the Regional Political Committee of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV) for Santiago Norte, which questioned the investment of 6,500 contos in the refurbishment of the school and nursery in Principal, the mayor stated that the criticism demonstrated a lack of understanding of how public works are carried out.
As he explained, the amount invested covered the rehabilitation of two infrastructures, the school and the kindergarten, and not just the school, as he said the opposition had implied.
Herménio Fernandes indicated that, at the school, interventions were carried out on the roof, walls, doors, windows, classrooms, fencing, painting and paving of the courtyard, while at the kindergarten the roofs were replaced, and the sanitary facilities, kitchen and classrooms were rehabilitated.
