Santo Antão: Violin Festival brings together islands and diaspora in an edition honoring Nhô Kzik and emigrants.

Ribeira Grande, August 21 (Inforpress) – The 12th edition of the Nhô Kzik Violin Festival transforms Ponta do Sol into a meeting point between generations today, paying homage to emigrants and reinforcing the memory of the violinist who gives his name to the event.

The Councillor for Culture of the Ribeira Grande City Council, Pedro da Luz, told Inforpress that the organization prepared this edition with the ambition of reaffirming the festival as one of the main cultural events in the municipality and as a space for valuing a musical tradition deeply linked to the identity of Santo Antão.

“We are facing one of the most important cultural moments in Ribeira Grande’s history,” said the mayor, who envisages a show based on the diversity of generations and backgrounds, but with one common element: the violin and Cape Verdean music.

The stage will bring together musicians from Santo Antão, São Vicente and Sal, as well as a representative of the diaspora, in a composition that, according to Pedro da Luz, aims to highlight the vitality of this tradition and its ability to renew itself without losing its roots.
