Santo Antão: Fundamental Foundation declares ‘unconditional support’ for elevating trails to national heritage status

Porto Novo, May 21 (Inforpress) - The Fundamental Foundation today declared its ‘unconditional support’ for the initiative of the Association of Municipalities of Santo Antão to propose to the government that the island's tourist trails be elevated to national heritage status.

In a statement, the foundation, which works to defend, preserve and promote the integrated and sustainable environmental development of Santo Antão, highlighted the ‘positive impact’ of the trails in promoting ecological, mountain and cultural tourism on the island.

‘The Fundamental Foundation, having learnt of the proposal by the Association of Municipalities of Santo Antão to elevate the island's tourist trails to national heritage status, publicly declares its unconditional support for this initiative, given its positive impact on the promotion of ecological, mountain and cultural tourism,’ it stresses.

For this foundation, tourist trails play ‘a crucial role in regional development, contributing to integrated and sustainable tourism, income generation, environmental conservation and the promotion of culture and history’.
