
Praia, 25 June (Inforpress) – The new Russian ambassador to Cabo Verde, Andrey Martynenko, said today that his country is willing to support the archipelago in a number of strategic areas, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation and national development.
The statements were made to the press after the diplomat presented his credentials to the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, at a formal ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Platô, in the city of Praia.
According to the diplomat, Moscow has a ‘great interest’ in strengthening ties with Cabo Verde in the political, economic, humanitarian, scientific and research fields, amongst others.
“We plan to continue our dialogue within the framework of the United Nations and other international organisations, including the African Union. In addition to our multilateral ties, we intend to strengthen our bilateral cooperation,” said Andrey Martynenko.
