President of the Republic convinced that Cabo Verde has a lot to gain from the Ocean Xplorer expedition

Mindelo, Mar 30 (Inforpress) - The President of the Republic assured this Sunday in Mindelo that Cabo Verde stands to gain from the expedition of the international ship Ocean Xplorer, currently in the archipelago's seas to discover new species and other discoveries.

José Maria Neves emphasised the advantages to the press after visiting the vessel, which is currently north-east of the island of Santo Antão and to which he was taken by helicopter.

The head of state assured that from today onwards he would be a ‘much better equipped’ president, with the conviction that Cabo Verde is definitely ‘not poor, but a very rich country’.

‘We have a wealth in the deepest waters that is simply extraordinary. And so this research, which is being carried out in cooperation with the Instituto do Mar and the University of Cabo Verde, the Universidade Técnica do Atlântico, Biosfera, and using all the cutting-edge technology of the Ocean Xplorer, is simply life-changing for Cabo Verde,’ he emphasised.
