Porto Novo, 27 March (Inforpress) – Speaking on Thursday in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, the President of the Republic emphasised the need for Cabo Verde to “rethink public policies across all sectors” in order to create “more opportunities for people”.
José Maria Neves, speaking at the opening of the conference on Women and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), stated that over the 50 years of independence, Cabo Verde has evolved and grown, “but we cannot continue doing more of the same,” at the risk of stagnation and regression.
“Today, to prevent Cabo Verde from stagnating or regressing, we must reinvent public policies across all sectors to create more opportunities for people,” the Head of State noted, during a visit to Santo Antão focused on the promotion of women.
During the visit, the President said he had observed that “all this is possible,” as “the pathways are open for us to continue this successful trajectory” that the archipelago has been following.
