Praia, Jun 10 (Inforpress) – today, the president of the National Archives Institute of Cabo Verde (IANCV), José Maria Tavares, highlighted, in Praia, the importance of raising awareness among public managers about the preservation of the country's documentary memory.
Speaking to the press, as part of the activities commemorating International Archives Week, José Maria Tavares reported that a debate is taking place with civil society and public managers in order to present the situation of archives at state level and, simultaneously, the questionnaire that will be implemented in the various ministries, thus allowing a diagnosis of the archival situation in the country.
Regarding the importance of the initiative, he said that the debates serve to raise awareness among those responsible and managers, who are the ones who produce information in the various state services.
“The greater their awareness, the greater the likelihood we have of ensuring the preservation of the heritage that is produced daily in institutions,” he maintained.
