Porto Novo, 14 September (Inforpress) –The Porto Novo Volunteer Fire Brigade, in Santo Antão, has once again warned of forest fires in the area near the Águas do Porto Novo company and the

Santo Antão Art Resort Hotel. Fire service commander Balbino Gomes said the forest has been hit by frequent fires, posing a risk to nearby homes, with some blazes reportedly caused by people visiting the area for picnics

“They then fail to take the necessary precautions to extinguish the fire, and on windy days, fires regularly break out, requiring the intervention of the fire service,” the official explained.

Balbino Gomes urges people to avoid such practices, which can lead to larger-scale fires, putting nearby homes and businesses at risk.
