Praia, May 22 (Inforpress) – The PAICV today congratulated the municipality of Praia on the 49th anniversary of the institution of its Municipality Day and asked everyone to reflect on the paths taken and the challenges to be faced for its development.

Through a political statement by the parliamentary group of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV – opposition), at the opening of the second day of work in the Parliamentary House, PAICV deputy Paula Moeda explained that the municipality, which celebrated on Monday, May 19, 49 years since the institution of its Municipality Day, deserves this tribute for being a welcoming city that is home to more than a quarter of the population of this country.

The deputy assured that this municipality has many challenges to overcome, but that the municipal government is working “increasingly” to value people with an impact on sustainable projects to give more autonomy to families, women heads of households, young people, disabled people and their caregivers, children and the elderly, to strengthen the social fabric where it is most needed.

The parliamentarian asks for more collaboration, courage, understanding, and discernment from everyone, stressing that it is necessary to “always prioritize the people and not power”, that is, she asks for more commitment to the people.
