City of Praia, 26 Mar (Inforpress) – The parliamentary leader of PAICV (opposition), Clóvis Silva, today accused the Government of avoiding parliamentary scrutiny and failing to deliver on promises, arguing that the end of the legislature exposes weaknesses in implementation and a lack of concrete results.
In a political statement delivered in parliament, Clóvis Silva began by expressing solidarity with the Cuban people, highlighting the historical support of Cuban health professionals to Cabo Verde and calling for respect for that country’s self-determination.
Addressing the legislative review, the parliamentary leader considered that the Government, led by the Movement for Democracy (MpD), failed to implement the commitments made over the past ten years, despite benefiting from an absolute majority and favourable political and financial conditions.
Clóvis Silva also criticized what he described as a “systematic evasion” of Parliament by the Government, pointing to the absence of debates with ministers and the prime minister in March, due to a lack of indication from the MpD parliamentary group.
