Parliament: Cabo Verde Radio's decision to stop plenary sessions from broadcasting heats up debate
07/05/25 - 12:54 pm

Praia, May 7 (Inforpress) – The decision of Radio de Cabo Verde (RCV) not to broadcast parliamentary sessions in the usual format generated, today, a heated debate between parliamentary groups and the Government before the approval of the agenda.

The president of the National Assembly, Austelino Correia, at the start of this month's first plenary session, told the national deputies that he had received notification from RCV management that it would not be broadcasting all parliamentary sessions as it currently does.

This announcement sparked debate between MPs and the government, with the parliamentary benches unanimously expressing their disagreement and the executive stating that it had no knowledge of this decision.

Austelino Correia expressed his indignation at the decision taken ‘without prior communication’ to the National Assembly, but said that parliament respects the decision, since RCV has editorial autonomy.
