PALOP: Critical thinking and art bring young people together in a new cultural programme

Praia, 8 June (Inforpress) – Ninety young people from the PALOP countries are to take part, during the holiday period, in the international programme “The Art of Critical Thinking”, organised by the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation in Mozambique, with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The cultural and educational project aims to select 10 participants from each country. In Cabo  Verde, the initiative will be led by the Pedro Pires Institute for Leadership (IPP), with the selection process extending to all other nations that are part of the group of Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).

The program focuses on young people aged between 18 and 30 and will take place during school holidays. The initiative's great innovation lies in the intersection between analytical reflection and contemporary artistic languages – such as writing, photography, and video – serving as a tool to combat misinformation in the digital space.

According to the IPP, the training cycle will feature masterclasses by illustrious figures from the Lusophone cultural and academic scene, including a joint opening session with Mozambican writer Mia Couto and sociologist Elísio Macamo.
