Praia, Apr 10 (Inforpress) - Today, the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition) said that the government lacks ‘effective strategies’ to reduce crime in the country, especially in the cities of Praia and Mindelo (São Vicente).

Carla Lima, deputy said that recently residential burglaries have been ‘violent’, causing people to fear going out at night or allowing their children to play in the street.

The parliamentarian elected on the PAICV lists made these remarks during the political statement she presented on behalf of her party.

According to the parliamentarian, public safety in Cabo Verde is a “issue of deep national concern” and one that directly affects the well-being and quality of citizens.
