Praia City, 20 Nov (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment stated today that the 2026 State Budget will reinforce climate-change resilience, water transformation measures, climate transparency efforts and modernization of the agricultural sector.
Speaking to Inforpress after a parliamentary hearing at the Specialized Committee on Economy, Environment and Territorial Planning, Gilberto Silva detailed the allocations for the various areas within the 2026 State Budget (OE 2026).
“We have a budget of 5.2 million contos (5% of the total budget), which represents a decrease compared to 2025, when it stood at 6.7 million contos,” he said, noting that the budget will support sanitation programs, climate action, water, agriculture, and the reinforcement of citizenship and environmental quality.
He added that in 2026 the ministry will continue working on water mobilization and distribution, strengthening loss-reduction programs, reducing breakdown risks across the islands, and consolidating ongoing reforms.
