Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish “welcomes with joy” appointment of new Bishop of Santiago

Praia, Feb 16 (Inforpress) – The Nossa Senhora da Graça Parish today expressed joy at the appointment of Dom Teodoro Mendes Tavares as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Santiago and pledged its “full availability to collaborate” in his mission to lead the Church.

The statement was made to Inforpress by parish priest Father Luís Fernandes after the announcement was made at a press conference by Cardinal Dom Arlindo Furtado.

“We welcome him with joy and want to prepare a festive reception,” he said, stressing that the parish will always be available to support the new bishop in the exercise of his duties.

The priest highlighted Dom Teodoro’s episcopal experience in Brazil, noting that his appointment will bring “new momentum to the diocese.”
