New Board of Directors of the INGT Takes Office with a Focus on Spatial Planning and Digital Transition

Praia, 29 July (Inforpress) – Geisa Barbosa, the new chair of the board of directors of the National Institute for Land Management (INGT), stated today that her term of office will prioritise strengthening land-use planning, modernising the institution and making better use of geographical information.

The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony for the new INGT board of directors, which took place in the conference room of the Government Palace in the city of Praia.

According to Geisa Barbosa, sustainable soil management is of strategic importance to Cabo Verde, given the country’s limited land area, its vulnerability to climate change and the pressures of urbanisation.

Among the new team’s key objectives, the official highlighted the need to consolidate a territorial culture across the country, to speed up the review of land management instruments, to strengthen technical support for local authorities, and to accelerate the land registration process.
