Minister visits Maio island to assess the operation of health facilities

Porto Inglês, May 29 (Inforpress) - Jorge Figueiredo, Minister of Health, will begin a visit to the island of Maio on Friday, to find out about the operation of health structures and to preside over the central act of World No Tobacco Day.

According to a press release, the visit aims to strengthen the link between local health services and the central services of the Ministry of Health, as well as allowing a direct assessment of working conditions and the quality of services provided to the population.

The visit program includes a courtesy visit to the mayor, Rely Brito, trips to the Health Precinct, health posts and basic health units (USB), as well as meetings with the island's health professionals. A visit to the private health sector is also planned.

Currently, the island of Maio has a network of health infrastructures consisting, in the public sector, of a Police Station/Health Center, two health posts and three USBs.
