Praia, Mar 25 (Inforpress) - Today, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment highlighted the importance of the project to implement a network of meteorological stations in the country, which will contribute to improving the quality of weather and climate observation.
Gilberto Silva was speaking in Praia at the opening of the workshop to present the investment project for the implementation in Cabo Verde of a network of meteorological stations integrated into the Global Basic Observation Network.
‘This process began around three years ago, when Cape Verde showed an interest in being one of the countries to benefit from the first phase of preparation in 2022. Once this was accepted, it gave way to phase two, which carried out the diagnosis and also the implementation plan, so that we could then begin this third phase of implementation,’ he recalled.
Budgeted at around 3.84 million dollars, he said, the project is intended to purchase equipment, software, databases, technical assistance, training for technicians and maintenance of meteorological network equipment at national and global level, in ground and atmospheric stations.
