Minister highlights “Early Warnings for All” initiative in view of climate risks
16/12/25 - 02:02 pm

Praia, Dec 17 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment highlighted the importance of the “Early Warnings for All” initiative, arguing that Cabo Verde needs to be better prepared to face climate change and respond in a coordinated manner to the growing risks of natural disasters.

Gilberto Silva was speaking at the national workshop launching the “Early Warnings for All” (EW4All) initiative, a global United Nations action aimed at ensuring that all people are protected by multi-hazard early warning systems by 2027.

According to the minister, this is a decision welcomed by the country, since despite efforts already made, existing systems still do not provide a fully adequate response to current challenges.

He added that Cabo Verde was selected as one of the pilot countries to strengthen early warning systems, which will allow the integration and harmonisation of existing mechanisms, aligning them with international standards.
