Minister Challenges New INGT Leadership to Deliver Tangible Results in National Land Management

Praia, July 29 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Territorial Planning today challenged the newly appointed Board of Directors of the National Institute for Land Management (INGT) to steer the institution towards delivering tangible results and to establish the Institute as the national authority for territorial planning.

Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony for the new board of directors of the National Institute for Land Management (INGT), held in the city of Praia, Carlos Tavares said that this moment signifies the Government’s renewed commitment to a “modern, efficient and strategic” management of the national territory.

Carlos Tavares argued that territory is a limited and strategic resource, the organisation of which influences the country’s competitiveness, the attraction of investment, environmental protection, social cohesion and people’s quality of life.

According to the minister, Cabo Verde faces increased responsibilities due to its insular nature and the scarcity of available land, which is precisely why every decision regarding land use must be based on knowledge, rigour and strategic vision.
