Mindelo, May 22 (Inforpress) - The song “Independance”, by Mário Lúcio, from the album with the same name, released in January, in Paris (France), leads the Top 10 of the best global themes, in the classification of the English magazine Songlines, in this month's edition of May.

According to a note sent by the musician's press office to Inforpress, the magazine highlights the musician's tribute to the 50 years of Cabo Verde's independence, through an album that reflects the “diversity of his influences” from West Africa, Portugal and the Caribbean.

Furthermore, he added, the magazine states that Mário Lúcio rescues these musical memories and creates new compositions in the styles of that time, “intertwining elements of afrobeat, soukouss and rumba.”

“The play on words between independence and dance, which refers to the dance tunes of the time, conveys the festive tone and the ‘groove’ of the album, referred to as a happy combination between the soft vocal tones, the relaxed melody and the vibrant instruments that are interspersed with archival recordings”, highlighted the same note.
