Porto Inglês, May 21 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Health, through the Alcohol and other Drugs Coordination Commission, promoted today, at the Youth House of Maio, an awareness-raising action aimed at the island's sports associations, focusing on the risks associated with tobacco consumption.
Speaking to Inforpress, the focal point for tobacco control, Celestino Lobo, highlighted the “fundamental role” that associations play in transmitting safe information to young people, especially when it comes to preventing risky behavior.
“We want to empower them to raise awareness among their athletes about the vulnerabilities that affect young people,” said the same source.
In this case, he continued, the concern is tobacco, especially among younger people, as the industry has launched new products with “strong youth appeal”, and the objective is for associations to promote debates with young people so that they make healthy choices.
