Porto Inglês, Oct 21 (Inforpress) – A group of fishermen from the island of Maio today caught a large tuna, measuring around 1.90 meters long and weighing more than 100 kilos, in a feat considered “rare” in local fishing.

Speaking to Inforpress, fisherman Zé, one of the people responsible for the catch, stated that "it's been a long time since a tuna of this size has been caught on the island," highlighting the team's satisfaction with the result.

The fishing took place miles from the coast and aroused the curiosity of some people.

According to fishermen, the presence of this type of large fish has become increasingly less frequent in the island's waters, due to the scarcity of bait and the decrease in fish catches in areas closer to the coast.
