Justice Minister highlights Cabo Verde's progress in fighting organised crime in Vienna

Praia, May 20 (Inforpress) - The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, took part Monday in a United Nations forum in Vienna, where she highlighted Cabo Verde's progress in reforming the judicial system and in the fight against transnational organised crime.

According to the note sent to Inforpress, the international forum ‘Transformative and disruptive responses in the fight against transnational organised crime and strengthening the rule of law in Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau’ was held as part of the 34th Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

In her speech, Joana Rosa presented the main advances made by Cabo Verde in reforming the criminal justice system, highlighting innovative initiatives implemented with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The minister highlighted four pillars of this transformation, namely the Civil Asset Forfeiture Law, the creation of the Cuidad Judiciária, judicial digitalisation and the application of the Theory of Change as an integrated strategy to guarantee sustainable results.
